Hey you guys, mommy baked a cake and she’s darn proud! I know that statement sounds kind of weird doesn’t it? Well, it may, but celebrating our accomplishments appropriately is rather difficult for most moms. Again, the notion that we only exist through the successes of our mate and children can quickly seep into our consciousness and take things over. I’m a huge advocate of celebrating one’s successes.
I challenge you to sit down right now and write out a list of 10 things you accomplished and you feel good about. Then, from that list, identify the top 2 that you announce to your mate and your kids. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the responses you receive. Below are two more tips to help you keep the ‘You’ in Mom:
Share. Yes, share your accomplishments with your kidlets and hubby. Leave some space on the front of the fridge for public display of your achievements. Practice announcing your accomplishments.
Do something playful and fun with your kids and husband. When we stop playing it makes our minds atrophy. Doing something in the spirit of spontaneity and fun strengthens our connections and re-fuels our love tank. Practice reconnecting through play.
The bottom line is staying motivated can be a real challenge, but us moms have to get in the front seat. Our kids won’t naturally identify us as having a life separate from them. So, that leaves the responsibility on each of our shoulders to create the kind of environment that shows our family that when mommy practices great self care the family gets the benefit of right quality results!
