If you have a problem with your Android phone, the first thing you need to do is find out what version of Android it’s running. You may need to know the version if you call up technical support or if you’re Googling for troubleshooting tips.
To find out the version of Android on your phone, follow these 3 simple steps. If you get lost at any stage, just push the Home button, which is usually the bottom-right button on an Android phone.
Click the Settings icon on your home screen, or find it in your list of apps. To pop open the list of apps, push the button that looks like a grid of dots or a grid of squares. It’s usually at the bottom of the screen and in the middle.
Scroll down to “About phone” and push it. This should be right at the bottom of the list.
Scroll down to “Android version.” The little numbers underneath are the version of Android on your phone. As you can see in the image above, my phone is version 2.3.1.
