Mom Entrepreneur: Alison Cohn
Business: Masters of Vibrant Health
I help people achieve vibrant health in all areas of their life. Masters of Vibrant Health is a membership site that offers a 30-week transformational program in vibrant health featuring experts in ten different areas from diet to faith, from abundance to exercise.
What inspired you to start your business?
After hosting four teleseries over the last four years I decided that I wanted to take teleseries to a whole new level, more of a vibrant health university. I want to excite and encourage people to live their best possible life through information, strategies, guidance, support and inspiration.
How long have you been in business?
At this particular business, six months.
What did you do in your past work life?
I was a farmer, administrative assistant and mother.
Describe your ideal workday.
Wake at 5am, meditate, exercise, stretch and shower. Wake the kids, get them ready for school. Settle down to two focused periods of work. Stop, relax, eat. Do one more focused session. Take a walk with a friend, read a good book, dance around the house. Spend the remaining few hours taking care of email, engaging in less critical tasks, enjoy a light meal, spend some time with my husband, jump on the trampoline a little. Greet my kids as they come home from school and spend the afternoon with them, having accomplished a lot of work before they came home.
What have been some of your major successes?
Moving through the fear. Taking bold steps even when it terrified me. Seeing accomplishments. Receiving messages from people around the world whose lives have been deeply affected by my work.
What have been some of your major challenges?
Mindset – believing in myself and the power of my message. Not falling prey to worry, doubt and fear.
On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
My husband, warm baths, funny movies, dancing, the deep knowing that what I am doing is making a difference and my desire to be all that I can be. That and really not wanting an office job.
Do you have a motivational quote?
A belief is only a thought I keep thinking.
If there was one piece of advice you could give to your children about running a successful business, what would it be?
Balance. Balance. Balance. And follow your heart. (ok, that is two pieces)
What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
Stopping work when the kids come home. Making sure that I move my body throughout the day to get out of my head. Meditating to get into my heart. Reminding myself over and over that my kids are my business.
Do you have a favorite business tool and/or resource?
What is next for your business?
Launching this latest program to several million people around the world.
Your two cents sales pitch?
Give me two hours of your time on the computer and I’ll get you off of the couch and on your way to vibrant, juicy, abundant health!
