Business: Zyhri Artwear
Zyhri Artwear is my jewelry and accessories on-line boutique for women looking for that unique or stand out piece that compliments or encourages her style.
What inspired you to start your business?
My son, when he was born I had a tremendous desire to be home and be the one to meet his needs and witness all his special moments. That led to no longer creating things that just ended up on the shelf, but putting my passion to work.
How long have you been in business?
The idea of my business was born in 2003 with the birth of my son and has been coming together in between life happening. I’ve put some serious motion behind within the last few years.
What did you do in your past work life?
My past occupation was masquerading as a receptionist at various companies, which did offer some small insight on company inner workings.
Describe your ideal workday.
Working in the mornings or evenings when it’s completely quite, either while my son’s at school and husband’s at work or everyone is asleep. I’m able to really get into my zone and get things done.
What have been some of your major successes?
At this point I would say moving from the idea of having a business to having a business with my own trademark has been rewarding. I accomplished things on my own that some people did not think I had in me.
What have been some of your major challenges?
Being a solopreneur has been difficult. Being the master of one’s trade and saying one did it all by themselves may sound good, but we’re not meant to where all the hats of a business, not if you want to be successful.
Also, getting my market aware of my product has been challenging.
On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
The daily trials and tribulations of my home environment compel me forward. Also my son, friends and prayer encourage me when I have doubts, feel frustrated or overwhelmed.
Do you have a motivational quote?
Belief creates the actual fact.
If there was one piece of advice you could give to your children about running a successful business, what would it be?
Seek wise counsel before, during, and after you accomplish your dream/vision.
What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
I’m still working on this one. Finding that balance to make sure my son’s and husbands needs are met without negating myself and being consumed with what I enjoy is difficult for me. Can anyone help!
Do you have a favorite business tool and/or resource?
I adore my Mac!
What is next for your business?
I plan to to add clothing to my line up of jewelry and accessories as I grow.
I would also like my business to eventually support assisting homeless women and children.
Your two cents sales pitch?
