What inspired you to start your business?
I started CorpNet, my second incorporation filing service, because I felt the completion was not offering what the consumer needs and because of my strong passion to assist small business owners, entrepreneurs and mom-preneurs to start their own ventures. I also wanted to educate moms that you can actually raise your children and also have a career at the same time and be successful at it. I am a strong advocate in educating small business owners and entrepreneurs about the importance of protecting their assets.
How long have you been in business?
CorpNet has been in business since July 1, 2009, but I have been in this industry for over 13 years.
What did you do in your past work life?
I have been in this industry for over 13 years and was the founder of MyCorporation.com which was my first document filing service, that was acquired by Intuit in 2005.
Describe your ideal workday.
My ideal workday is working sales and assisting our clients over the phone and educating them on the importance of incorporating their business.
What have been some of your major successes?
My major success has been selling my first company at a very young age and being blessed with the opportunity of being able to comfortably provide for my family and taking some time off to focus on raising my 3 children.
What have been some of your major challenges?
My biggest challenge is sometimes bringing my work life into my home life because I am so passionate about what I do and not being able to shut off my mind after work hours, but I have been working on it and its getting to be more manageable.
On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
Reading Tony Hsieh’s book: “Delivering Happiness”…I always get pumped up and motivated after reading any chapter of that book.
Do you have a motivational quote?
Do what you love and love what you do each and every day…you only live once!
If there was one piece of advice you could give to your children about running a successful business, what would it be?
My advice to my children is: Believe and be passionate about the product or service you sell and be honest, ethical and always do the right thing; don’t be greedy!
What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
I am extremely well organized and always plan ahead which is the key in my opinion to balancing life, marriage and raising 3 children in addition to being an expectant mom. In addition, even if it’s a matter of 5-10 minutes a day (prefer at least an hour) I try to take time out just for myself and reflect.
Do you have a favorite business tool and/or resource?
HARO is my favorite resource and bit.ly is my favorite tool.
