This year has been unprecedented; we as a country watched common decency and respect for life go out the window in so many different scenarios across the globe, from slaughters of Allepo, the explosive amount of gun violence in the US to the downfall of politics, the world has changed forever.
So with so many things in limbo, it’s important to take a step back and think about what is important to you at this very moment. My three words reflect the person I want to be and what I want to achieve in 2017.
to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as a result of a particularly favorable environment.
In 2017 I want to continue to grow and develop in all aspect of my life. My priority is focusing on my health and well-being. I am stepping up my fitness game, exploring other methods of exercise outside of running and weights at home. I want to take Yoga classes and maybe even a dance class or two. This year’s goal is to to get physically and mentally fit. I will make sure I’m making time for me and doing things to help me flourish in my two favorite things photography and writing.
The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance
If you are still unconvinced that climate change isn’t real, then I suggest you watch Years Living Dangerously. We should be declaring a state of emergency for our rain forests, oceans, and food supply. While I can’t control the level of important our new president will put into climate change, I can do some things to help mother earth. So this year I will focus on decreasing my carbon footprint and find small ways I can help save the planet. This year I will share the latest technology to help live in a more sustainable way and provide tips on how to live a sustainable life.
to care for and encourage the growth or development of
Our kids are getting older and growing into great human beings. I chose nurturing as my last word because this year I want to focus on helping them expand into their areas of interest. They both have unique goals so this year my husband, and I are going to work together to help them reach their goals.
But the word nurturing goes further than just parenting. I want to spend some time nurturing relationships I have with other people and hopefully foster new ones.
